A real-life Dutch family is getting ready to see themselves and their lives as a cartoon on TV. The Dutch family were chosen from thousands to be the model for Nickelodeon's new cartoon.
The TV channel was after a family which was a cross between the Simpsons and The Osbournes for the new show. And they found the Maatjes! They are made up of mum, dad and three kids.
The search for the perfect cartoon family started in July 2004. The Maatjes were chosen because they have such a nice and hectic lifestyle, say the cartoon makers.
And they were very pleased about winning. Mum Dalina said: "We can't speak with excitement. We feel like superstars and love to see our own cartoon!"
SpongeBob is a sea sponge who lives with his pet snail, Gary, in a fully furnished, two bedroom...pineapple. SpongeBob's dream in life is to be the ocean's ultimate fry cook, and thanks to his job flipping Krabby Patties at the Krusty Krab, he lives that dream every day. SpongeBob is as optimistic and earnest as a sea-dwelling sponge gets, but he can't seem to avoid getting himself—and usually everyone else around him—into trouble. While trying too hard, he tends to do things wrong—really wrong—which usually spells disaster. But SpongeBob's always looking on the bright side of life, and his enthusiasm about just about everything make him downright irresistible.

Dora the Explorer coloring pages
Dora's name is taken from the Spanish word Exploradora, which means "female explorer." In every episode, Dora goes on a quest, usually to help someone in trouble or otherwise do a good deed for someone. Her quests often involve gathering key objects and/or surmounting obstacles, and are usually done in three stages. Dora has a knack for almost anything she tries, but is best at soccer, and is unable to ignore a friend in need. She is very close to her family, particularly her Abuela (grandmother), and is never seen without her flower bracelet given to her by her Abuela. She has a teddy bear she got on her first birthday, which she loves very much; she even went on an adventure just to find it when she lost it.
